Forgetting How Ugly You Are

Sale Info
Size: L35xW28cm
Medium: Acrylic
Price: €450
I spent a few days working on this one a few Summers ago. I started by painting the canvas completely black before layering on light blue and orange. From there I piled on various colours in an eclectic bunch of brush strokes.
The name ‘Forgetting How Ugly You Are‘ comes from the thought that we, as people, are all beautiful and ugly at the same time. There’s no way of existing true to ourselves without both the beauty and the ugliness. While that may be the reality of life and the world around us, sometimes it’s alright to ignore the ugly side of reality and just embrace beauty for what it is.
The messy jumbling of colours represents the nature of beauty being hidden everywhere in ways we may not expect.
An Important Reminder

A cartoon I did some time ago. The personified heart has been through a lot of hardship and pain over it’s lifetime. It’s reminding it’s owner again to remember to listen to it to avoid pain in future.
Letter to Vincent

Sale Info
Size: L30xW42cm
Medium: Acrylic
Price: €250
This is one of my personal favourite works I’ve done. Inspired by my favourite painting from my favourite artist, ‘Letter to Vincent‘ is inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night. I love how Van Gogh represented beauty in his madness.
A sunset over the sea in unconventional colours, the stars in the sky and reflecting in the sea are of a similar style to the afforementioned painting.
The stars are chaotic in nature and the colours make no sense.

TerrorEyezed

Sale Info
Size: L35xW28cm
Medium: Water Colour
Price: €125
A painting that represents mental illness.
The words linger all around as the eyes scream. The painting is meant to be jarring and uncomfortable to look at.
Betty and the Blossoms

A wholesome painting.
Beth was my family dog. She joined my family in 2008 and she lived a good life until 2023. She was often known as Betty or Betty Spaghetti. Outside of my family home there was a big cherry blossom tree that would bloom every spring. Pink pedals flooded the front garden. Beth would always find a way to get a few pedals stuck on her fur on walks.
Good Morning

You’ll know from my cartoons, coffee (and not talking to someone until they’ve had their’s) is a theme. In truth the mornings always see my head in chaos trying to figure out the previous sleeps dreams.
Fade into my Soul

Sale Info
Size: L30xW40cm
Medium: Water Colour
Price: €100
A very gentle watercolour painting with dancing brush strokes and a short poem of just two lines.
Broken Glass Eyes

A drawing of two eyes on a face, both of which are shattered as if made from glass. Eyes are a theme in my work as they carry mystery and clarity at the same time.
Dancing With Demons

Sale Info
Size: L28xW35cm
Medium: Acrylic
Price: €100
An acrylic work with bold figures.
We all have demons, and in this painting the two characters are learning to dance with theirs, accepting that the demons may never go away and will need to be lived with.
Strange Face

A drawing from a little while back. Strange Faces is a theme in a lot of my work.
If we could see everyone’s true face, we would be surrounded by strange faces.
You Briefly Made Me Hate Love Songs

Sale Info
Size: L35xW28cm
Medium: Mixed
Price: €175
A mixed piece about unrequited love. I layered on colour over a number of months. Grief and heartbreak are experiences that simply have to be lived true, with time being the only cure. At some point you manage to finally see through the clouds and life goes on.

My Eyes Have Seen You

Sale Info
Size: L30xW40cm
Medium: Acrylic
Price: €200
Inspired by the song I Looked at You by the Doors, a band I often listen to while painting. I love purple and was spreading purple lines on yellow when the song came on, suddenly all I could think about was eyes staring back at me. I originally was going to name the painting after the aformentioned song, but I decided to name it after a different song by the Doors My Eyes Have Seen You.

Potted Plant in the Sun

Size: L15xW15cm
Medium: Acrylic
Price: €60
An abstract portayal of a flower pot in the sun.
Strange Faces, They Haunt Me

An artist friend recently recommended that I incorporate words into my art more. I am a writer and she told me I’m good with words. I originally did this piece with two eyes and the background text, but decided then to make a full face out of text.
Jellyfish Under the Stars

Sale Info
Size: L15xW15cm
Medium: Acrylic
Price: €60
Jellyfish swimming in the sea under the stars. One of my more figurative paintings with loosely designed Jellyfish and stars complimenting each other.
Life is Al Dente

My painting style is often completely chaotic. I don’t always know where I’m going with it until I’m already well into the process. I keep adding colour after colour and spreading it around the canvas.
This piece involves both acrylic and watercolour. Recently I’ve been trying to combine my abstract art with my cartoonish style.
Life is Al Dente sometimes.
A Lonely Window Into Purgatory

Sale Info
Size: L28xW35cm
Medium: Mixed
Price: €450
A piece that began with me painting over an old painting I didn’t really like (a painting I had actually done, I was not ruining someone else’s art).
I used unconventional paint application methods here, and I worked a lot lighter when spreading the actual paint itself. After working on it for a while I was happy with the way the colours mixed. I’m often intuitive in my painting and stop when I feel like I’m done.
Dark Blue and Other Colours

Another of my very abstract works that began life with me painting over one of my old paintings I wasn’t happy with.
Unlike other pieces I’ve finished I actually worked on this over a number of days rather than one sitting of a few hours.
I wanted to create a field of blue where the colours dance around each other. It’s like looking at a night sky in a dream.
